The Bears had just overtaken the the Tigers to go top of the league with three matches in hand. The Tigers' victory kept them in the hunt, but it all went horribly wrong two weeks later when the Bears gave them a 67-29 drubbing at Cleveland Park.
Ralph Horne won the Junior scratch race from Freddie Woodcock, Alec Edwards and Alvin Higgs, while Frank Hodgson won the Senior final from Bruce Semmens, Jack Bibby and Tommy Bateman.
